In August 2011, in the Kermanshah region in Iran, a prisoner took a leave of absence from prison after seven years of imprisonment. On the very last day of his prison leave, he kills his teenage daughters with an AK-47.
According to Islamic laws in Iran, a father is the owner of his children’s blood. Therefore, he can only be sentenced to half a year in prison for the killing of his daughters.
“When I was 20 years old and a student at the Art University of Tehran, I saw the video of Mehtab, Mahsa, and Laden, who were victims of honor killings in Kermanshah. I promised
myself that one day I would make a film about the tragedy for the whole world to witness the atrocity against the women in my country. After 12 years when I pursued becoming a filmmaker, I found the opportunity to start my film project about the three sisters.”
